ONE STEP POUND CAKE
2 ¼ unsifted
all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp grated
lemon, lime or orange rind
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking
soda
1 cup sour
cream
1 cup butter,
softened
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
- Preheat oven to 325 F. Generously
grease and flour 12 cup fluted or plain tube pan.
- In a large bowl, blend all
ingredients at low speed until moistened.
- Beat batter three minutes at medium
speed. Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until
toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
- Cool to lukewarm. Invert onto
serving plate. Cool completely. Glaze if desired while still warm or cool
completely and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Makes one 10
inch ring cake.
